Medical Science and Technology has advanced tremendously during recent years. This development of Medical Science especially Medical Technology has revolutionized the lifestyles of mankind. Some decades ago, Medical Laboratory Technology was not a separate branch of study in Medicine. However, with the advancement of science, the Medical Laboratory Technology has emerged as a special branch and has become the backbone of Medicine in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Thus, Medical Laboratory Technology and Medicine are closely linked. The diagnosis and successful treatment of the disease depend on the investigation reports done in the Laboratory by Laboratory Technicians. In Nagaland, there is still acute shortage of well qualified and trained Lab. Technicians. Even, the district Hospitals in the state are in needs of a well-qualified Laboratory Technician. The rural areas, i.e. PHCs/CHCs are deprived of these facilities, resulting in much inconvenience to the innocent rural people e.g., even for a simple test they have to seek the services in urban centre’s. The Nagaland Institute of Allied & Healthcare, Kohima, aim to fill up this gap by providing standard/quality education to the trainees so as to improve the health delivery to the people of the state.
